Help with adding MH lighting to my canopy.

I want to add MH to my 90 gallon tank. Problem is that my canopy isn't tall enough. See a picture from the All Glass sight.

Notice the matching corner pieces. The tank is in my home office and is surrounded by other cherry wood furniture. For asthetics I really dont want to take off the canopy to replace it with a hood or pendant. I'd like the rest of the room to look as nice as the inside of the tank.

I think this is a fairly common set-up, has anybody else managed to keep the canopy and still get MH lighting?

I've thought of setting a hood on top of the canopy where the lid would normally fit.

Any suggestions?

That would probably be your best bet. Cut out a large enough area on the top of the existing canopy, then create another sort of smaller canopy on top of that.

I've seen it done and it doesn't look bad at all.
