my green star polyp has partially opened as of yeasterday. I have had it for three months. It has always looked perfect until yeasterday. Today very few are open. Brain coral, mushroom, button polys look normal.

I have some green star polyps in my 40 g reef. They used to be in a 60 G reef. All together have had them for 2.5 years. I have noticed that once in awhile they decide not to open, even with all water conditions fine. A day or two goes by and they return to normal. I have even seen some elsewhere that close for weeks. Not sure why. If all of your other corals are fine, I think your star polyps will come around. One thing I know they don't like, is when fresh water is added to the tank. They will sometimes close when hit with even a small stream. When topping off tank with fresh water, try to keep stream away from polyps. Unless you CA drip.

Anyway, mine do the same from time to time, only for a day or so.
