For those who uses an HQI 400 Watt Radium German Bulb. Is yours blue ? I fired mines up for the first time this morning and it seems really more white then blue ? But the 400s are really bright!!!! I likes !

I believe mine to be white as well. they do have a blue tinge, but nothing to crazy. I actually run two 110 w actinics with mine.

The ballast has a little bit to do with it. I have some pictures posted here somewhere of the 400 watt Radiums ran on the PFO HQI ballast, the PFO standard ballast and an electronic ballast. The HQI ballast burns em a little bit whiter and brighter.

With most higher K halides the initial firing of the bulb is blue and over a half hour or so they come into full spectrum. The prev responders are right...HQI ballasts put out more power than electronic ballasts! So you get more bang for your buck. I just purchased the Radium 20K bulb for my 400W PFO HQI and am contemplating a 10K. I am wondering if that will appear a little brighter.
