I'm wondering if it would be practical to keep a pair of clowns in a 20H. I'm not interested in upgrading to a bigger tank later, so this question regards their adult sizes. I would like to keep either clarkii or sebae clowns but would be happy with many others. Thanks.

I think with a mated pair yes you will be ok. If you add any other fish they will probably be terrorized so keep that in mind. That is if your filtration is sufficient. They will grow to a max of about 6".

Please consider some tank raised clownfish. They are hardier, and as juveniles you will have them longer and your system can stabilize as your clowns grow. They also have obviously much less impact on the natural reefs. As Greg Scheimer pointed out in another post wild caught clowns' host anemones often fall victim to Butterflyfish.

On the note of tank raised, I've been wondering where the best place to get them is. Maybe I should try the LFS, but premium aquatics looks very professional and I've heard all good things about them. Which option offers the best chance of survival?

Premium aquatics definetly seems to have a large assortment of TR clowns of different types. I have only personally seen ocellaris and black percula TR's here. Maybe your LFS is different. If you can find healthy looking TR clowns at your LFS you may be better off just because of the shipping stress avoided. But if you QT then I really don't think there's much of a difference.

Although I haven't gone through Premium Aquatics specifically. I have had very good luck with ordering online and shipping. All of my livestock was healthy and acclimated well.
