My powder Brown tang has these
little tiny spots all over him they look almost like air bubbles.
All the other fish and sps/corals ect. are fine. Did a full battery of tests and every thing seems normal.

temp 76
Ph 8.2
Alkalinity 2.5
Calcium 500
Hardness 9
PO4 0
Ammonia 0
Nitrate <10
Nitrite <.2

Any help would be appreciated

To me these spots sound like ich. I would get him out and put him in a quarantine tank with copper for a couple weeks. Also if you can raise the temp to around 80 this will speed up the life cycle of the parasites. Also you could feed the fish in your main tank garlic soaked food to boost there immune system. If your tank is not a reef tank and doesnt has live rock or any inverts you can just dose it with copper. Hope this helps. -Mike

sounds to me like the tang you have has ick how long have you had this fish and did you qt the fish before you put it in the main tank . tangs are well known for them to get ick . i would get him out of tank and put him in a qt tank i would not use copper to treat him though tangs have a tuff time with copper

Most definetly ich. Do not use Copper as this is very harsh on tangs! I would use some garlic extract in the water and on his food. After QT him first of course. Do this for about 6 weeks and then if all well re introduce him to the tankmates.

Yes the fish is only 2 weeks old

if not copper then what?

Just took a hard look at my flame hawk and he is getting them now

CRAPP!!!!!

Does the QT need lights, protein skimmer, new water or tank water. Never set one up what do I do?

Thanks KFH

yes a 10 gallon tank will do just fine i would use 5 gallons of your main tank water and make 5 gallons of fresh ro di salt water put in a sm pump to circulate water do you have any poly filter in your main tank if you do i would use that for bacteria so your qt tank doesnt have to cycle make sure you check your am and no2 levels change 10%of water if the readings get high also you will need a heater no light ot skimmer is needed. keep this tank in your qt tank at least 3 weeks even though you may think the ick is gone feed him the galic food he should do ok also before you put him in the qt tank i would give him a qick fresh water dip then piy him in the qt tank hopes this helps you mark

Your going to have to watch your ammonia levels...as they can really spike quickly. Also, make sure you have a high level of oxygen in that 10 gallon...tangs need more than the normal fish. I find that doing hypo salinity (1.009) for 4 weeks is the easiest, but only if you have a monitor..the glass or plastic ones are not accurate enough.
Good luck
