i dont know, are your fish and corals happy? i would try to keep it at 80 to 82. use a heater dont let it fluctuate that much, thats a lot of stress your putting on to your tank inhabitant's.

I had a 7 gallon nano that had similar problems. An el-cheapo heater from the local Walmart pet shop solved my problem along with flipping the lid open whenever the lights were on.

I'd look to keep it around 80 - 82. Flipping the hood lid up when the lights are on is a good idea, or you could put some spacers between the hood and the tank to allow a little airflow to keep the temps from going too high. If you do this, keep an eye on evaporation of your water, as even a little evap will cause large fluctuations in a 3gal. Definately get a heater to minimize the fluctuation - 75 is a tad low in my opinion, and the 9 degree temp swing is too much.

Best regards,

Ken

If you turn up the heater you'll still get the swing just at a higher range. Find some way to cool the tank when the lights are on.
