Reefguide,

Sorry for the delayed responce. I am very surprised to hear that your local fish store would reccommend or sell you this product for ich, since Marc makes no claims in regards to this product being able to cure such diseases or any other fish related disease for that matter. I am not trying to slam Marc, or any of his products, or his contrubtion to the reef keeping community. I simply feel that most of these chemicals that are sold, are only a form of "snake oil" that the local fish stores can sell to newbies for quick profits. When I first started this hobby about 5 years ago I bought it all, I mean it all, and I spared no expence. I think at on time I had every product made by Kent, and like many others my local fish store recommended every one of them. Over time I found sites like this one and spoke to other reefers and soon came to realized that alot of the local fish stores dont know as much as many of the people on these chat rooms. You coraline needs 3 main things to grow good Calicum, ALK levels and low posphates. If you get these thing in check you coraliane will come around quite quickly. You can dose kalk an loose your other checimals or buy a good 2 part CA / Alk supplement and dont forget to keep up on the water changes.

I have corraline growing on the face of my button polyps (green sea matt).
I had to clip one or two polyps because they were starting to wither due to lack of light.

has anyone ever had this happen???

Thanks for your input. Maybe it is snake oil, but the bottle does make claims to helping Ich...

"Interferse with the ability of Crytocaryon (saltwater ich) to adhere to fishes' skin. Corals "open up" " blah, blah...

Might be snake oil, that's why I ask...

Yup. If it wasn't coraline, I'd be mighty upset... but, as I take the purple stuff as a sign of good health, I can't complain. I've also had coraline algae grow on the stems of leather corals, which doesn't seem to have any ill effects at this point.
