I have had the coral now for 3 weeks and it has yet to fully open. I have been feeding it chunks of mysis that my seahorses eat. My nitrates are 20-30 and falling as I have disconnected my fluval and done a water change.

One new thing..it seems to be "traveling" around the tank..i put it in one spot and the next day i find it tipped over or in a different spot...is this normal??

Any advice for a newbie??

I believe that once I get my nitrates down the coral will open!

Moving is normal. But she should not be moving too much. It may be a sign of lack of/too much light or food. To limit the space add some border rocks that will limit the distance it can move. I would also suggest feeding her something meatier like silversides or krill.
