I have an 80gal w/sump (Marine)! What's the best Pump for the sump dawg! I wan't real power here! :twisted:

Seriously tho...the "recommended rule of thumb" as I've used is that you want to run 10x your tank volume thru the sump every hour, so on an 80 gal tank you'd want a pump that could deliver 800 gph after taking into account frictional and head loss.

Best thing to do IMHO is to take a look at Champion Lighting's pump page and then find the pump curves on the web that will do what you want.

Good brands to look at for external pumps are Iwaki, Little Giant, Gorman-Rupp (GRI), Gen-X, etc. For internal pumps look at Mag, Sen, Sedra, Eheim, etc.
