Found two on my pom-pom xenia three weeks ago and now it's dead. Just pulled off one huge one and two small ones from the base of my colt, and saw what looks like eggs laid on the piece of live rock the colt is on...what can I do to prevent these screwballs?

Thanks in advance.

Peace,

Chip

Does it look like this guy?

I had about several hitchhike in on something and it went right after my colt. Over the course of several day I removed about 8 from my tank when the lights were off and saw where they were coming from and check the rock and what appeared to be egg strands there, scrubbed them off, and haven't seen any since.

Oh yeah, that's the one all right. I'll be getting rid of those eggs today, and any more I find I'm banishing to be sump where my carnivorous brittle star is.

Thanks a lot for the info!

Peace,

Chip

Had the exact same thing about four weeks ago. Came in on live rock went straight for the colt in my stock tank. Ended up with about six of them.

It's probably Tritoniopsis sp. which feeds on softies(mainly leather corals). You can see it on page 304 of The Reef Aquarium Vol One.
