Hi all-

In the spirit of providing my fishies with a variety filled diet, I purchased some different frozen foods the other day. Ocean Nutritions Formula One and Prime Reef. The formula One causes massive micro bubbling from the skimmers and pumps, even though they stop skimming for a few hours afterwards. Any ideas? Could it be reacting to some other chemical imbalance I should know about?

All I got for readings, is my nitrate is approx 10ppm.

And the Prime Reef food does not have this effect.

Thanks in advance,

KK

I ignore my skimmers reaction to feeding. It'll start back skimming properly in no time IMHE.

Hey All-

Thanks for your responses. Not worried about the skimmers though, more worried about the bubbles. Gets so cloudy with em that the fish hide, and dont finish eating.

Thoughts? I think I might chalk this up to the Formula One food, and give it to my neighbor, he has a low current tank.

the reaction you are getting is from the gelatin used in putting the food into cubes. I usually saok my food in Kent Zoe or Zoecon. this way the fish eat the bits of gelatin and it doesn't get suspended in the water colum (spelling - i have had a long day)

It is good to turn off your skimmer or main pump while you feed. this allows everything to eat with out the filter catching all of your food..

hth

I have a wavemaker that has a feed button that alows me to leave the powerheads on and turn off the sump pump....
