I have the in sump urchin pro, which is almost identical to the remora in design. I am assuming it is the rectangular box with the rubber o-ring for height adjustment. Mine slips in and out with relative ease, so it would appear that there is a flaw in the construction, especially if it looks bowed.

Best Regards,

How do you like the Remora? I have a Prizm that I don't like, would replacing it with a Remora be an upgrade?

I should do an overflow and sump, but I'm not up to that yet i don't think.

I have had my Remora Pro for 2.5 years and has done great, but the collection cup does bow on mine too. Its caused by the set screw used to set the colection cup height. Luckily mine is not diffuclt to remove the cup.

This must have been a common problem because I notice on the newer ones they use a rubber o-ring on the collection cup for height adjustment.
Maybe AquaC can send you a new collection cup with the new o-ring setup.

Good Luck

I've heard of the same thing happening to other people, Me included. I think it has something to do with the amount of heat coming out of the back of the tank. Other people have replaced the collection cup only to have the same thing happen.

I too have the screw-set type which has also warped a bit over time (2 yrs). Fortunately, removing the collection cup has never been a problem. I'm surprised to hear you say that Aqua-C didn't respond to your e-mail. When I had a question for them, Jason, the president, responded the next day with a personal reply. Maybe he missed your e-mail?

Anyways,

How big is your tank? I would say the Remora or Remora Pro would definetly be an upgrade over the Prizm...

this is the new model with the o-ring i got the skimmer on christmas and its only been up and running a few weeks

I missed your second post. Have you notified the vendor? These skimmers are on the pricey side... Is it still under warranty? They might just offer to switch the collection cup or ask you to wait to see if it "setlles in".
