I am almost out of test for my PH test kit.

I am thinking about getting a Pinpoint PH probe for this.

What is a PH controller used for?

I need to order the PH probe at least today and just wondering if I need a controller or just a monitor.

I am also thinking about getting the Pinpoint Salinity Monitor. ANyone use this and is it any good?

I have a pinpoint monitor. It's great for monitoring the pH around the clock in your tank. I got one to make sure I was adding Kalkwasser correctly. It'll also tell you instantly if something dies because the pH will drop.

hi.
For the case of pH, a controller is a monitor that also can be used to turn a switch on and off. In reef, it is usually used to shut down a calcium reactor's CO2 supply (via a solenoid), or kalk reactor if the pH is out of preset range.

I've been using the same Pinpoint pH monitor for years. I've had to replace the probe but that's normal with tiime (every couple of years). Great product, I think you will like it. As mentioned unless you are going to use it in conjunction with a Ca or kalk reactor you don't need the controler. Never used the Pinpoint salinity meter but am thinking about getting one.

I ordered the PH Monitor and the PH Salinity meter.

Once I get the PH Salinity meter running I will let you know how it works.

Thanks

I have used the salanity meter for a couple of years, always accurate, very reliable. I also use the ph meter although there are better probes on the market that work on the PP meter, it has proven to be a true asset. I should explain some of the better probes you can buy are shielded and do not seem to be bothered by stray electricity as much.
