Hi,

I've lost 2 wrasse last week. Recently remove mantis shrimp, but it is way too small to kill my wrasse. Do have stone crab? though. Can this thing killed my fish? I also have 3 damsel fish, and they're come earlier than the wrasse, and nothing happen to them.

Should I remove the crabs? Have few in my tank.

Thanks.

is it a small reddish crab that lives in holes in the rocks?
i found one in my tank that came in with my rock.
he's been in there for over 6 months and i found him just a week ago.
i had a tiger jawfish that was using the hole in his rock for a house,
and three days ago i found the jawfish half eaten in his hole.
i think i should try to get rid of that crab too.

I had a six line wrass and he was missing 3 days after I put him in the tank, havent seen him since. My guess would be that your wrass is dead my friend and now crab food.

Its a shame, wrasses are a beautiful species.

How long have you had your wrasse? I added an ornate wrasse to my tank that hid for three weeks, before coming out and getting eaten by my anemone.

I also had a six line wrasse who decided to commit suicide on two different occasions. I finally found him under the tank, dry as a bone. I thought he was happy, had him for 8 months or so, guess not. I myself have found tonight a rather large crab who looks extremely mean and nasty. I dont know what to do with him??? Must have been there for a long time without anyone seeing him.......

Hi,

The first one is cleaner wrasse, and I have him for about 1 week before he dissappeared. The second wrasse is yellow wrasse, and I only have him for 3 days.

Not sure what kind of yellow wrass you have, many wrass go by the name of "yellow" wrass or "canary" wrass. But many of them do have habit of hiding for a few days when first introduced. They also have habit of hiding under the sand. They do sleep under the sand too.

The cleaner wrass, if not already trained to take prepared food, may have died of starvation already.

It is highly recommended to purchase cleaner shrimp instead of cleaner wrass. Most cleaner wrass imported died in captivity due to starvation. Pretty sad........
