Hello all. Does anyone have any opinions on the pros and cons of using B-ionic Calcium Buffering System over kalkwasser?

I'm debating about switching from the latter to the former because I experience such irregular evaporation from one season to the next.

Thoughts?

Jeffk i actually use both on my 75g. I dose daily with the B-Ionic then drip my topoff with kalk and seems to work great..

Jeff, I also use both. I dose B-ionic every few days and kalk in the topoff. I also run a single stage calcium reactor. I have always had trouble keeping both my alk and calcium up. I am getting better results when I dose the B-ionic every other day or so. When I just rely on the kalk in the top off and the calcium reactor my alk and calcium fall over time. I have quite a load of sps corals that seem to be sucking up the stuff :).

Thanks for the input. I hadn't considered using both. Also, good pointer on the salinity, Marco.

from a cost perspective on heavy demand systems:

b-ionic is more cost effective on tanks 75 gal or less-for larger tanks, a nilsen and Ca reactor are prob'ly much more cost effective, imho
