Power compacts: Jalli or JBJ?

Im gonna be purchasing a 36in power compact unit, i was wondering whether to go with the Jalli or JBJ model, both are 192 watts....anyone?

If I had to choose between those two I'd definitely say JBJ. Custom Sea Life or the Hellolights brand are much better than either of those IMO. It's best not to skimp when it comes to lighting because you get what you pay for.

well whats wrong with the jbj ones? they seem to be very good as far as what i have read about them. Got links to some of those other lights you mentioned?

With JBJ I think the ballasts are built in to the hood. This makes it difficult to replace the ballast if ever necessary. Are you looking for a hood or retro kit? Here are some good sites for lighting:

You can always get Hellio's systems cheaply on Ebay. Here is a link for an example. I have nothing to do with any auctions. I have just been looking there in case I end up picking up a large storage container to use as a sump or refugium in my basement.

The price is without bulbs. But it seemed like a pretty cheap price to me. I'm glad I seem this thread because now I know the quality is pretty good.

In my post above I mistook the Helios brand example I saw on ebay with the Hellolights brand mentioned as being a good hood above.
Does anyone know if the Helios brand that are always for auction on ebay are any good?

lol, my bet is no. If they are that cheap, they are prolly not any good. not sure though, could be wrong.
