I hear a guy in Hawaii has raised, C.flavissimus, loriculus, and a hybrid of these, among others. The catch is that he is using plankton direct from the ocean and doesn't know exactly what they're eating. Anyone else hear about this?? Since C. potteri might not ever be available in the near future except for captive raised it might be worthwhile for some people to try it.

Yes it is true, he started with C. fisheri, then did flavissimus, loricula and multicolor, he is currently working on rarer/more expensive species since rearing them is very labour intensive and he figures each fish he now raises is worth $100 ... so doing any of the regular species is out of the question commercially until a cultured food can be found that will allow for mass production. As for the hybrids ... I think that is rumor, I have never seen that. As for him not knowing what they are eating, I doubt that very much, he is very meticulous so I am sure he has a pretty good idea. ;)

Aloha!
