Hi Everyone! I was wondering if you could answer some questions about your favorite tang (or tangs) I’m writing a research paper on them, and would love some 1st hand experiences.

What is your favorite tang? Z. Flavescens Yellow Tang

Where did you purchase it? LFS

What did it cost you? about $15

What makes it so special to you? I fell in love with this fish after seeing them in an LFS as a kid.

What do you feed it? Mostly nori sheets, also Formula II and spirulinal flake. It also grazes on the rocks.

What will it not eat? Only things too big to fit in its mouth.

How does it behave in captivity? Fairly calm, but swims around quite a bit. Aggressive during feeding time, shy when foreign objects are in tank.

How does it react with other tangs? What other tangs do you keep? I have a small Sohal, they display at feeding time but generally ignore each other.

How does it react with other non-tangs? What other fish do you keep? It largely ignores my 3 ocellaris clowns and Potter's angel.

How long have you had it for? 16 mos.

Does it have any quirky behaviors? nah

What do you feed it?he eats everything pelets,frozen,live you name it

What will it not eat?corals feather dusters my other fish

How does it behave in captivity?pretty good dosent like new additions.

How does it react with other tangs? What other tangs do you keep?no other tangs as i dont own a tank large enough to keep more than 1

How does it react with other non-tangs? What other fish do you keep?very well with it's tank mates, i have a flame angel, scoter bleny. arch eye hawk fish, redlip algea blenny. i tried to introduce a mejestic angel but the tang tried to kill it as soon as it got out of the bag, i haad to return him and lost some money cuz he was beat up.

How long have you had it for? 2 years

Does it have any quirky behaviors? likes to swim behind my rocks all the time, some people i have shown my tank dident even notice him.

What makes it so special to you? Like most all tangs it eats algae

What do you feed it? algae from the tank, flake

How does it behave in captivity? swims, eats, shi**

How does it react with other tangs? What other tangs do you keep? don't know yet cause I don't have any others but I am sure all will fine in a couple of days as previous exprience has shown

What is your favorite tang? Sohal Tang

Where did you purchase it? LFS (Pacific Reef in Anaheim)

What did it cost you? $70

What makes it so special to you? Awesome colors, and very active fish

What do you feed it? Seaweed selects on a clip 24/7, Mysis, Squid, Shrimp, Silversides, Misc flake, and grazes on algae in the tank.

What will it not eat? The rocks and sand in the tank :wink:

How does it behave in captivity? Swims around the tank a lot, somewhat skidish at first.

How does it react with other tangs? What other tangs do you keep? Have had a Sohal with a Purple tang and they got along fine.

How does it react with other non-tangs? What other fish do you keep? Picked on my Blue Jaw Trigger once, but the trigger smacked him with his tail and there hasn't been any more confrontations.

How long have you had it for? First Sohal for 2 years before a heat wave, Second Sohal for 2 weeks.

Does it have any quirky behaviors? Likes to beat his reflection in the glass up.

If your favorite tang is one that you would not buy for ethical reasons, what kind is it? Nope

What are your beliefs for not buying it? Just make sure you have a large tank.

How does it react with other tangs?only one it doesnt get along with is the sohal they stay at there own ends of the tank What other tangs do you keep? purple yellow sohal
