I just added 130 watts of altra actinic pc. I had 288 watts of smartlamps pc. Why does the corline fade out to white everytime i increase the wattage. but in two months it will turn purple again :?:
That is because it was adjusted to the old light. When you added the extra lights, I am sure some of the coraline algae went into shock and died. However in other areas of the tank, maybe under a slight overhang or lower, the algae was able to adjust at a slower rate and then started to spread back into the affected areas.
In the future if you don't want to see this happen again, bring the new lights on slowly at first maybe an hour a day and then slowly increase their duration time per day.
