safe RO unit...

i was wondering what the safest RO unit there was around, at an affordable price. by safe... i mean for use with an aquarium and also for human consumption. right now, we buy our water for drinking and tank from the supermarket. it uses RO, carbon, and UV filtration.

I'm by no means an RO expert, but all the units I have seen look pretty similar. I think they all use similiar cartridges and membranes and function the same way, so I would think any of them are suitable for reef and drinking water use.

BTW, a TDS meter is a handy thing to have to keep track of the quality of the product water from your RO unit (or the water you are buying).

yes...i own the dual home/reef system from airwaterice.com...it is great. it was much, much easier to install than i thought, and helped the taste of my drinking water tremendously, also got the icemaker hookup.
total installation time was less than an hour including drilling the sink.
I would recommend them highly

I had a very good experience with Aquatic Reef Systems. I bought the Oceanus 100 GPD unit and I love it and thought the price was very reasonable comparatively. I have it plumbed/tapped direct into my cold water line under sink and then it drops down into the basement into a 35 gallon rubbermaid container complete with Spicket. Voila!!! Purified water for me and my fish! Check out their site and even give em a call, they were soooooo helpful in answering all my questions about the mysteries of RO/DI. Best of luck!
