Cleaner shrimp = snail food

I came home this afternoon and found my snails polishing off the last of my cleaner shrimp. He was eating and lively last night so I'm not sure what happened. I don't think the snails knocked him down and ate him on their own and everything else in the tank is normal. I had it for a little over a year an a tank with two clowns and an emerald crab. Never any problems between them. How long do cleaner shrimp usually live?
