When I bought the rock two years ago it had a small dark brown film, but slimy patch. Now the whole rock is covered and this stuff speads and is spreading. If you look at the pics you can see it oozing from the side. One more quick thing. I am tring to use my digital to photograph a my aquarium. For some reason my blue damsel and electric blue maxima come out pink. Thats the way it also showes up on the LCD. Im using 260 watt PCs, Im guessing its the lights. Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Thanks

No, it hasnt done any damage, but when I first noticed it spreading I moved it away from the corals and rock. No there was no coral on it when I bought it.

I would guess a sponge......I think I can make out a few "syphon holes", and there appears to be water canals. It also seem to be about the right thickness in comparison to several encrusting sponges I have. Sponge is my vote as well.
