external pump options

hello all.
i am looking for an external pump to run 2- 3/4" sea swirls or mabey 2- 1" ss. its going on my 75, but the tank will soon be converted to a 180.

my two needs are as follows.
it must be quiet
it should be as energy efficient as possible
its gotta be free

I love my AmpMasters. I have a 2100 and 3000 and they are quiet, energy efficient, but not free. :wink:

I use 2 Quiet One's for my 90 gal. Very quiet and no problems yet to speak of. I believe only 85 watts.......Hope it helps!!!!

In regards to energy efficiency: hit http://www.reefs.org/library/pumps to look up the pumps you're contemplating buying.

thanks for the link liquid. i dont see any ampmaster specs on there though, and no iwakii wattages.

Ampmasters are manufactured by Dolphin Aquarium & Pet Products and there's quite a list there. In regards to the wattages on the Iwaki's...Iwaki Walchem does not list wattages for their pumps as wattage drawn by the pump is dependent upon many things -- one thing being head. You can infer what the wattage for the pumps will be by looking at the amperage draw that the pump needs.
