Hi! My berlin plus protein skimmer just started putting out a million little bubbles, I've tried adjusting the air intake and adjusting the water flow from the skimmer's own powerhead but no matter how I adjust it, there are still a bunch of tiny bubbles that are flowing into my tank. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong and how I can fix this problem? This just started happening this morning, it's been fine for over a month. Thanks!

Did you recently clean it?
I've noticed on the Berlin's that the bubbles in the reaction chamber should not be lower than the reacton chamber (the first inner tube inside)
and you need to adjust the bubbles to achieve that.
If that isn't it, then look for a piece that wasn't put together correctly.
i.e. an air gap where there shouldn't be.
best of luck

I had similar problems with my Berlin turbo skimmer, caused by the plastic pipes inside the main chamber coming out of place, as would the little plastic diverter (that small square piece inside the smallest interior tube). Don't know if the Berlin Plus is made the same way, but I'd make sure everything was assembled properly.

I finally realized the best adjustment to my Berlin skimmer was to replace it with an AquaC EV180. Haven't had any problems since. :D

The old berlin skimmers were great, if you replace the venturi with a real one, like the Kent, and use a good pump, like a small iwaki presure pump.

Dunno about the new ones, I have an old regular one, and an old XL, I keep as backup.

My model is the brand new Berlin Turbo, it has the triple pass. I paid extra to get it's own powerhead I guess that is what it uses to pump water into the skimmer.

Someone told me what the problem was:

I had added some red slime remover the night before, that's what caused it to bubble like that. He said whenever he added trace elements it would cause his to create a whole bunch of little bubbles, some chemicals cause it to do that.

I love this protein skimmer, yes I have to adjust it at times but other than that it works really well, except that I freaked out when I saw all those little bubbles in my beautiful tank! I am getting seahorses and I can't have micro bubbles like that floating around the tank. Thanks for everyone's info and help!

That advise was right on, Most red slime removers tell you to turn off the skimmer for a t least a couple hours, then they go nuts for the 2-3 days.
