Diatoms or not?

I have this stuff... growing all over my tank.. the whole tank is coated in it. I can blow it off the rocks with a turkey baster, but it was pointed out to me that diatoms usually don't coat this heavily...

I have a pic that shows the surfaces it's coating in the tank... RO unit is on the way... anything I can do in the mean time?

hi.
While diatom is harmless in almost all the cases, what you have is cyanobacteria, not diatom. Do a search and you will find pretty much know all anyone care to find out. good luck.
