If it's like other crustaceans I've had the pleasure of eating..I mean WORKING with, it should grow back assuming it has sufficient biomineral availability. You will know this if it sheds its shell on a regular basis.

It will, but very slowly. It will take several molts for them to grow back. What else is in your tank? How did it lose it's arm?

it actually didn't have an arm when i got it a week ago. i was at the fish store and this arrow crab was moving the substrate around so fast. for 25 minutes he never stopped, so i figured he'd be a great help in cleaning my tank. then, when i got home, i noticed he was missing a front arm...i figured i didn't notice it at the store because he was working so hard or that he lost it in the net when i bought him...

just an fyi about arrow crabs:

they can be fairly nasty and destructive to other inverts-it'll probably polish off all your feather dusters, if you have any, and any other crab, shrimp, snails, and fish it can catch is also fair game.

i've heard many bad experiences from hobbyists w/arrows, and, in spite of its super cool looks, have been recommending to folks not get them as a 'clean up crew' member

just keep your eyes peeled
