Hey Charles, any way to get a movie of that system...particularly the sight of lyretails and chromis actually being able to school in the surge? Must be a beautiful thing to see on a regular basis...don't take that for granted, man.

I would love to know how you guys keep your back glass so free of coraline.

In the 250 the windows are cleaned with magnet cleaners everyday. I use a Python hand mitt probably twice a week to get stubborn spots off. The key to keeping windows coralline free is daily wiping.

The larger systems I showed pictures of (1200 and 5500 gallons) have inserts in the back made of wall covering material (Korogard) that are wiped with a fibrous 3M pad every day and they are removed and cleaned every 12 days or so. The window in the 1200 is wiped every day and then stubborn spots are taken off using an acrylic blade on a pole that has a Python mitt covering it. This easily removes stubborn spots. I go into that tank maybe once a month at most to pluck algae, harvest Xenia and remove spots from hard to clean areas.

The 5500 window I wipe twice a week using a ... you guessed it ... Python hand mitt. I sometimes just snorkel but if it is particularly dirty I use a hookah rig attached to a SCUBA tank outside the display.

I can shoot a AVI of the tank and then compress it to DivX format ... but I am not sure if I can post those here. It would tend to be at least 1 meg or maybe 2 for a 20 sec clip I think. I will be visiting the Seattle marine aquarium society in April 2004 so I will show better video at that time, if you plan to attend.

I'll leave that aspect to you guys.

I almost brought a 120 gal with a clear acrylic stand so that I can show off all the gadgets inside the stand... now that I come to think of it, JCBlueEyes will probably feel that it is real bad taste if I decide to show a pic of what I had envisioned.... :D

Don't tell me ... you also probably have a window on your PC with neon lights right?

Hey if you want an acrylic stand go for it ...

Mine, early this year before both last February's fragging and last summer's "CS/IO" event. Is 100% recovered now. I should have some new pictures in about three weeks.
