I was wonderin how many people have had experience with this skimmer. Mine had a leaky joint so I replaced the O ring in the joint with a thicker one.(cost me 50 cents) I do understand that I should not have had to even do that but I did and I am very happy with it. Good Skimmer for the money.

The design is questionable in most people's minds. THe skimmer has very low contact time and volume and the interaction of water with air is very fast and turbulent. All of these factors are usually regarded as bad traits for a skimmer. I've seen Seaclones work and they do a decent enough job on smaller tanks, but they definitely do not live up to their ratings (or anything remotely close to it). All hang-on skimmers are compromised designs, but I think the Seaclone departs too far from what a conventional effective skimmer design in an attempt to be "cute" and unique.

becket dual injected...please...just drop the 900 bucks and then let me borrow it....please. ill give it back................

i think its that neat picture on the front of the box that draws people to the sea clone. in reality it would push me away...there are hardy any bubbles in the reaction chamber...that whirlwind effect i guess is some good marketing on their part..im sure they sold a bunch. for not much more u could get a kent nautilus, or maybe even a PM. i have the nautilus and it skims lots of gunk out. im satisfied with it 100%..i really dont think i have a bad thing to say about it. sure there are more that work better...but for 155 bucks, it is great.

call sea world and see if theyll give u some of shamu's skimmers....what do u think they use to skim that bastards tank.

back to the original question, in my experience with it, it only fills the collection cup about 1/2" effectively, then production seems to be extremely low until I clean the cup out again. even when I do get skimmate it's never black or dry... usually very watery and brownish. I must admit, watching the "cyclone" go is mesmerizing 8O hehe...

I just got a CPR BakPak so we'll give 'er a try :)
