Is it possible to use a Hagen Aquaclear 802 PH with Remora Pro ?

Has anyone used this combination of skimmer and PH?

Will it perform satisfactory?

Hi Jim!

The 802 has a comparable flow chart to the Maxijet 1200, so I imagine you can if you can get it to fit. It really doesn't matter what pump you use so long as enough water pressure is available. Of course, the 802 probably won't fit in the AquaC prefilter box if you're planning on using one, but I could be wrong (never tried).

The best pump for the Remora Pro is the MAG7. You'll need a larger collection cup. However, this combo really kicks this skimmer in the a**

Thanks for the welcome :)

I'm in Australia and MAG pumps are not available here, so it has to be a RIO 1400 or I will have to try a AQ802.

Oh, I read Remora, not remora pro. Yeah, the 802 is going to be under-powered. I recommend AquaClear 4000 or 901 .... just anything to avoid Rios ;) Do you have Sedra or Senn pumps? A Eheim 1060 would be better too.

Thanks again for the reply.......Eheims are available here but they are $300.oo add to that the RemoraPro $460.oo and my skimmer set up is costing $760.oo

All VERY frustrating as I want to fire up my new skimmer.
Has anyone ever heard of used Via Aqua PH's ? are they just rebadged RIOS ????

Below is a reply recieved a little while ago- but it goes against everything that I have read on the Internet, what on earth do I do now????

Dear Jim,

I am sorry for not getting in touch with you sooner, some of your messages have been filtered out by our anti-spam software and as a result I wasn't getting them! The Hagen 802 would work perfectly with the Remora Pro - since it is a bit more powerful than the pumps we normally use, it will actually result in a performance upgrade that you should be very happy with.

Please do let me know if you have any other questions and once again I apologize for the slow response!

Good question!

I hate to disagree with Mr. Prince, but the 802 is not more powerful than the pump they normally ship with the Remora Pro (Supreme Mag 3).

I would ask Jason Kim at AquaC.

Matt - the Pro is still shipped with the Rio pump, unless you buy the MAG3 upgrade.

Anyway... both the Rio 1400 and the Aquaclear 802 both pump 400 gal/hour at 0 head. I'd say Mr. Prince is also incorrect

We stopped selling the Rio version as soon as it was available with the Mag 3. I guess I assumed everyone had, but I stand corrected! :)
