Is he in quarantine? And, is there a chance he's been exposed to cyanide?

I have in the display tank, and I don't know about cyanide, but how would that matter considering he hate at the lfs?

If he was exposed to cyanide then he'll slowly wither away and die. It's also not uncommon for a fish so exposed to eat, apparently voraciously, to then stop and end up dying. Do a general Google search on "marine aquarium fish expose cyanide", you should come up with one or two papers on the subject. (I think that was how I did my last search) Cyanide seems to cause great problems with the gut lining in exposed fishes.

Also, consider just returning him to the LFS. Brine are nutritionally deficit, and if he was there eating brine for an extended period of time, that may have caused a problem as well.

Also, your own water quality parameters need to be addressed. The more information you can give us the more chance there is of sorting the problem.

i had to feed mine live feather dusters to start out before he ate anything else. i was lucky and had 2 tanks i just pulled the feather duster rocks out of the reef and into the other tank. he ate them so fast once i did this it was mind boggeling.

Go to the grocery store and get a freshwater clam. They rarely can resist a clam. Do you know the origin of your copperband? If it is from Indonesia, then there's a good chance of it being cyanide caught. For future reference, always try to get one from Australia. They tend to be hardier and are not cyanide caught. Good luck.

Freshwater, yep, that's what the man said. You sure about it needing to be a freshwater clam, ride?

Although, I think you really need to consider the issue of cyanide. Unfortunately, without your current water parameters, we can't rule out quality issues, either.

At this time, I suggest contacting the LFS immediately, if he was eating for them, then it might be better to get him back where he was feeding normally. That would give you time to figure out what the problem might really be.

I'm sure a saltwater clam would work, just dont put a maxima or something nice like that in there
