Hi all,
I just got a 75 gallon acrylic tank. I want to add a sump and possibly a refugium but the tank was not predrilled. I'm planning on getting it drilled but could use a little help. I figured that I wanted to do dual 1 inch overflows with two 3/4 inch returns. I thought that I should drill a 1 inch whole in the bottom of the tank, in each corner, and install the bulk heads. How can I make a box for the overflows? Is there anyplace that I could by them on line or would I have to make them myself. Does this all sound correct? My next question has to do with the returns. Should these also be drilled into the tank and if so where. I was looking at those SCWD units and they seem like a great way for me to alternate my flow but I'm not sure how I would run the returns. I'd love some suggestions. My last question is what type of return pump should I get. What do I need for GPH and what models are considered good. Sorry for such a long post but this is going to be my first tank with a sump and there is so much info to sort through. I will however continue researching. Thanks all for any advice.

Thanks for the links podman they were very helpful. Any Idea what kind GPH I would need if I had two 1" bulkheads.

it depends on what you want to keep but 1800gph ought to do whatever you choose.

i was thinking of my 90g which is the same footprint as your 75. actually 1200 would likely be plenty.
