Will a DI system do the trick for water purification or di I need RO? Is there a big difference in the water that they produce? I need to know because I found a good deal on what the person called a DI system. Thanks

Water from a DI system will be better than RO. You need to keep in mind the cost of operating the DI system. If you can regenerate the resin yourself then it would be a good choice. If it uses expendable cartriges then it could be quite expensive if you need alot of water.

I use a combination RO/DI system. The water first passes through the RO filter then to the DI. This gives very good quality water without constantly replacing expensive DI cartridges.

You could easily exhaust a $20 DI filter after running 20Gal of tap through it. OR, run the tap through RO first then DI. IMHO, just running tap through RO is clean enough for any saltwater projects.

Depending on the qulaity of your tap, but my $300 4 stage RO yielded thousands gallons of clean RO water with average TDS reading of less than 5.

hi.
In So. Cal, the water is really hard (even if you get yours from LA's DWP). DI by itself is not a good option economically here, but I am sure some people have the wallet to do anything they want.

So is this oppertunity not worth taking? (50$)should I just not buy it and get the ro later?

NO Its not. Even if you just wanted a DI you could get it cheaper. If you are on a budget you could find an RO unit for fairly cheap.
