I just recently added a queen angel and Emperor angel.. I just noticed tonight a small white spot on the queen and a few on the emperor and of course, a few more on the Flame. these spots were not there yesterday and nothing has changed in the tank. Is it possible the fish are stressing each other??

Curing ich, if you relieve the stress level the ich will natually go away??

I read that article, thank you btw, but the fish were kept in a low copper based hospital tank for 3 weeks before being introduced to the display tank, how do we explain the parasites then? was the copper not a high enough dosage maybe?

You must use the right type of copper and keep the level up consistently all throughout the treatment or it won't be effective. What brand or type of copper did you use? Did you use a copper test kit to measure the level of copper twice EVERY day? What was the dose that you used? Did you allow the copper level to fall too far for even one day?
Hyposalinity is THE safest and most effective treatment for ich.

I'd like to add that standard protocol for quarantine at the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific is 30 days MINIMUM. While they don't use hypo, it certainly does work for the most part (currently helping a woman battle Amyloodinium/velvet affecting her new Sohal in q/t) on these types of parasitic infection. Black spot can be eradicated completely using f/w dips, for instance.

I don't think the issues regarding proper use of copper, whether chelated or not, can be stressed enough.

SeaMaiden,
Although hyposalinity works very well for treating Cryptocaryon irritans, it is not a cure for Amyloodinium. Amyloodinium can survive in as little as 3ppt salinity. A hyposalinine environment will assit the fish in combating Amyloodinium, but you need to use an additional treatment. I would suggest Chloroquine phosphate. It is available from Aquatronics packaged as Marex. It works much faster than copper and will give some relief in a matter of hours. Just treat once on the first day ONLY and leave the fish in the medicated water for 10 days.
