you can peel it off very slowly, but you will end up with a mushroom with guts (while stringy things) outside. Some chip the rock it is on, and move them that way. Others use a razor blade to cut the 'sroom up....
There are dozens of method, but the real difficult part is to get it to attach to the new place. Some use crazy glue gel, some use a toothpick (I don't use this method), other just leave it in a cup with rock, etc.

You can cut the top of the mushroom off the rock with a razor blade or sharp pair of scissors. The base of the mushroom that remains on the rock will grow into a new one in a few weeks.

Like David said, attaching the new mushroom is difficult. I've never had crazy glue work for me. I've successfully used one of three methods:

1. Just place the new mushroom in a nook in the rock away from current or fish. It will attach on it's own in a week, but it might get blown away or moved by another tank inhabitant.

2. Place the mushroom in a container of coarse rubble at the bottom of the tank and allow week or two for the mushroom to attach to the rubble. Now you can place it anywhere in the tank with the extra weight from the rubble keeping it from blowing away.

3. Get some clear nylon thread and a needle. Tie it to the rock by piercing the mushroom with the needle once and tying a knot around the rock.[/list]

The plastic mesh containers marketed for pond plants work well for getting loose mushrooms and other polyps to attack to loose rock. They are reasonably deep while still allowing for good water flow. The mesh is tight enough so that even small polyps won't slip through. They can be found just about anywhere that sells pond supplies. I got mine at Lowe's.

ok i have a couple tips...I use super glue to tack down loose frags..ive done it with polyps and sps(bird nest)....i would try to break off a piece of rubble the mushroom is on...cutting it might prove challenging...and third if you dont wanna glue it, i have one of those breeder containers for fish you can use that to keep the current off them and keep the other inhabitants from moving it or picking on it....oh yeah..you put the breeder container in your tank so it stays in the same water not a seperate entity...
hope this helps...

I have never had to remove a shroom but I have attached many. I never used anything at all. I just took the detached shroom and tucked it's foot down into a small hole and held it for about 2 minutes and it was stuck enough to hang on (you might want to reduce the flow before doing this).

They have all been there ever since. I suppose if you wanted to attach to a less porous material that glue would be needed.

if the top of the shroom is large enogh, you can frag it intopieces as well. take a razorblade or sharp scissors and cut the cap like a pizza. Try to get a little piece of the mouth on each piece. Each frag will turn into it's own mushroom.

I use either cheescloth or nylon netting and rubberbands to hold the frags onto the rubble pieces. The last batch I fragged, I put both blue and green shrooms on the same rock.
