well i fired up one of the return pumps this afternoon and all went well, except for the elbow i forgot to glue lol, and the exhaust fan is doing it's job by takeing all the hot air and moisture out of the room, it gets pretty hot because of the heat from the bulbs but with the exhaust fan , it makes a huge difference.

superg 74, thanks bud, i used GE 1 clear and also bought some clear acrylic corner angle bars glue'd them behind each baffle for added support. you can find those at www.tapplastics.com :idea:

well most of my previous tanks were pretty messy underneath and this time i wanted to keep it as clean as possible underneath and behind. i also added a large access door in the garage so i can get to the hard to reach places . the chiller and ampmaster are in and only have the exhaust side from the chiller to plum in and im done with plumming lol.

here's a handy littile piece of equipment, a temperature thermostat, in runs on 110volts and needs to be hardwired. i hooked it up to my exhaust fan over the tank because it gets so hot over the light that i raises the temp in the tank so this baby will kick on at 85 degres and vent all the heat from the bulbs outside. it has a temperature setting from 60 degrees to 120 you choose what temp you want it to come on and it will run just about anything thats 110 volts.

oK I know this is probably a dumb question but I have yet to figure it out. On what side of the glass/acrilic does the gasket go on with the bulk head?

thanks everyone , i put a lot of man hours into this tank. so far i have had five leaks and there all due to me forgetting to glue the piece's together lol. . mikey 98, you want the gasket on yhr inside of your tank . johns 120, my electrical cost per month is about 125.00 in the summer and half of that in the winter gve or take 25.00 bucks. modo you can get that thermostat at home depot in the whole house exhaust fan section, and you would locate in probablly your hood to turn on the fans when it gets to hot under there. robin, stop looking lol.

thanks alberto for the kind words, the pluming is all done now and i can finally sit down and wait about 3 weeks for my ro system 35 gpd to make enough water to fill this baby up lol :lol: its going to take forever and since my water pressure is only about 40psi i only produce about 20 gallons per day so im stuck at the moment about what to do, by a booster pump and boost the water pressure to 80 psi or by a 100 gpd ro unit or just get a new flow resrictor and a 100 gpd membrane, i dont know. :?

Well, now that you ahve this kind f volume in front of you, you should move your RO/DI production way up. In anticipation to my system, I bought a 100 GPD unit with dual DI chambers and a flush kit. Now, I find it still not making water fast enough for my taste in case of an emergency and I make about 80 gal/day from it. In about a month or so, I will get a booster pump, a second 100GPD chamber, and an adjustable flow restrictor to get about 250 GOD from it all according to reef aquarium systems. That is where I bought my original unit from and I highly recommend you talk to John there. He is awesome, and their prices are second to none.

You ahve to be able to make a large water change if you need it and your current unit is going to be running every 2-3 days just making evaporation loses depending on what size holding container you have. Trust me on this one, you need a faster unit.

Something you may want to do in the meantime is put a post in the wamas site and see if anyone has an RO/Di unit they could let you borrow for a couple of days to help speed up the process. I would lend you mine, but it is hard plumber to my system already.

hey len, nothing to impressive to report at the moment. i finished sheetrocking around the front face of the tank and im starting to apply the joint compound, three coats in all. i ordered a 100 gallon per day ro membrane plus a new flow restrictor to replace my old 35 gpd unit and has arived today and the aquatec 8800 ro pressure boosting pump should be here tomorow this way it shouldent take long to make up about 400 gallons of ro di water, lol :lol i am currently houseing all my corals and live rock from my old setup, wich is now the sump/ in two 100 gallon vats inwich i plan on adding them to the new tank when condition's allow and i''ll post some pics of that setup later on tonite otherwise i have some sand to throw in the tank but it's kinda slowed down around here, all the fun pluming and frameing, grunt work is over.here's a old pic of my sump/ tank before i ripped it apart and relocated the corals and rock to the vats, i lost four corals so far due to the breakdown, ph swings and light adjustments have shocked some of the acro's.
