ernie, here is a pic of the bottom left side of the front of the tank drywall, this is the first coat of three inwich it will need to achieve a aceptible finish. visit your'e local drywall supplier and he can direct you to different styles of j mold or corner bead to give you a starting point as far as the edges go, hope this helps.

So then, your overflow is connected to a ball valve before it reaches the sump? I think I may have found a way to do away with the durso in my new 180, how does it function so far, noisewise, do you expect problems down the road, could you give me a detailed pic of your overflow? Tank looks awesome, by the way!

thanks joey. the overflo works great, i have a 2'' drain pipe about 4'' center of the bottom of the overflow compartment and a 2'' ball valve directly after the 2'' 90/ elbow wich allows me to raise and lower the water level in my overflow section. problems down the road, i hope not it's a 2'' hole all the way so much bigger then a durso i think, so far it works great nice and quiet, as far as detailed pic there really isent much to it.

That is one sick aquascape! 8) 8)

You have plenty of space up top for open water fishes, caves for fishes that stay around the reef, good spots for coral placement, and enough space around the rock to get rid of the algae on the glass.

I can't wait to see it with all the corals and all! :D 8) :D

Tony,

WOW great tank! I love the details and would like to copy a few of them, if you don't mind of course!

I noticed that you installed a CDP 8800 booster pump for your RO/DI. Any chance you could post a pic of the setup. I bought a used one and it didn't come with a manual.

they dont come with instructions, but you want the booster pump to be installed in between the first filter 5 micron and the second filter/ carbon block. these pumps are well worth the money . my water pressure is 40 psi and after installing the booster pump it jumps up to about 85psi and i finally get 100 gpd of ro water, i would say i could fill my 100 gallon rubbermaid stock tank up in about20 hours for water changes etc etc. the booster pump should come with two rubber inserts, one one each side of the pump inlet's, what you do is cut the ends of of the insert's onlt aqbout 1/8 and insert the ro tubing into the rubber insert's and then insert them into the pump, it mite leak for a second but it will seal itself rite away, mine did anyway , and you should be good to go. as far as copying the setup, please do, im hear to share my idea's . :)

My good man, what the hell goes to what??? That RO/DI unit looks far more complicated than my convoluted PVC city behind the tank

What are all those wires on T I see? What is that white box thing at the end of the RO membrane case?

alberto you crack me up, the white box thingy on the end of the membrane caseing is a pressure shut off soliniod, excuse my bad spelling, wich attaches to a float swith in make up water tub, shuts the ro down so you dont have too, sounds like a commercial dont it. :D

well the fun never stops in this hobby, but the funds $$$ do. well my custom sea life chiller 1/3 hp just keeps on running to keep the tank at 79f so as a good reefkeeper i had to get a bigger chiller to handle the the increase in water, im the gineua pig on this one so i bought a pacific coast chiller 1/2 hp , now custom sea life makes awsome chiller's but really expensive so i opted for a new to the market chiller and i hope everything goe's well, it's re pluming time . anyway i noticed with this chiller that it is well insulated, cooling coil, cooling line's, compared to the custom sea life wich there is no insulation at all. plus the price was just rite for me.

Tony,

Tanks for the pic, it helped. I have some parts I'm not sure what to do with...

I have a pressure switch, what looks to be a solenoid and a power cable pigtail. These need to go somewhere in the water flow setup, just not sure where. Before the pump? I didn't see those components in your pic...

I've really enjoyed all the photos.
I was hoping to get a review from you on the performance of your new chiller. I just completed, well almost completed, my new 190 gallon in-wall tank. I also have a 1/3 HP chiller that on warm days runs all day to maintain a 78 degrees (before I adjusted the flow rate I was stuck at 80). I've had my eye on the C-0500. Is it able to maintain a cooler temp for you without running all day? Any other comments about the unit would be appreciated. Thanks

well i wasen't very happy with the flow from the ampmaster 4700 for a closed loop so replaced with some extra pumps, what do you think will this make the acro's happy. ONLY KIDDING. i belong to a local reef club in the washington dc area , and two of our member's run the invertebrate exhibit at the national zoo/ smithsonian institution in dc. and this is part of there system wich they were kind enough to invite the club to a behind the scene's tour, it was awsome.
