I went to the LFS today and on the tank with the perculas they had wrote in big letters Nemo and had raised the price by $5. The sad part was I was there two weeks ago and they had over 20 in the tank, today they had 2!

Check out the Finding Nemo-help or hurt? sticky topic. ReefMon has an interesting quote from his LFS!!!!

Personally, I haven't seen any affect (yet), but I can't imagine what must go on in PETCO and all those other crappy LFS's who don't know what they're talking about. 8O 8O

I read the post. I think it would be a better deal if they threw in a tang and moorish idol. The bad part is they will probally sellout(Whoops! I guess they already did)!!!

The boss-man at my store got a truck load of clowns just for the opening weekend.

I guess i'll need to start selling 10 gallon tanks too.

My reef tank is setup in my classroom. Kids were lined up at the door this morning to see my percula collection. They all wanted to know what it would take to keep marine fish and were rather egar to know where to purchase them. I lectured them on the sheer cost of keeping a reef tank and the time factor as well. Some seemed genuinely interested in keeping a saltwater tank. That is how I got started, seeing a 200 gallon reef. It could go either way... Having many new, well-informed aquarists, or many people trying to keep clowns in a 2 gallon fish bowl. Its all in how well people are educated.

What do you teach? I teach 8th grade literature and reading. You should venture down into the sump sometimes...we get onto educational discussions every now and then. :D

I teach 9-12 grade special ed. Language Arts and World Studies. I had them set-up my reef as part of a Lesson on Australia. It went along perfectly with the a discussion on the barrier reef and video "Blue Sea: Coral Seas" that was on Discovery Channel last year. It sure cuts down on the maintenance I have to do! They love it. Something new to see in there every day.
How about you?

I was at the LFS today when the local news station called asking to do an interview with someone and wondered if they had any clownfish in stock! I warned the guy that would be doing the interview that the media would probably be taking the negative stance on the hobby. Who knows how the movie is going to affect the hobby though...
