i have a copperband butterfly with a white spot on one pectoral fin. he eats what he can get from the reef and some frozen mysis shrimp. (i bought him to get rid of aptaisia anemones. i had at least 25 and he ate every one) appetite, activity, breathing seem normal. other fish-2 occelaris clowns and a yellow tang all ok. will this spot subside on it's own without treatment? i would not know how to catch him without taking every rock and coral out of the tank
75 gal reef with 30 gallon sump, water parameters:
pH 8.2-8.3
ammonia 0
nitrate 0
nitrite 0
temp fluctuates from 76 in am before light come on to 81 when lights go off in pm

To avoid this scenario in the future - quarantine your fish.
I've made many posts on how to catch fish, as have others. Do a search.
You need to treat him with hyposalinity, (in a hospital tank) 1.009 for a few weeks.

that seems like big fluctution in temperature, to me anyways.
i set my heater higher in the summer so that the temp doesnt
drop so much at night and i dont get much of swing.
ive had crypto twice in my tank, both times after power outages and the temp dropped.

Just one white spot? Are you sure it's not just a peice of sand or something?? I wouldn't get too bent out of shape over one spot.

Although I do think your temp swings to much, andthat could be stressing a sensitive fish such as the CBB.

Turn your heater up (or add one) so the temp doesn't drop so much at night.

I agree that the temp swing seems a bit much. IME that can be stressful for some fish. You could try clip-on fan on the sump hooked to the same timer as your lighting (so it kicks on with the lights) to help stabilize temps.
