Well this is the second time in 2 months my tank temp dropped from 79F to 75F. I had my hands in the tank last night uprighting a acro frag and I noticed how cold the water felt (I dont know about you but ever since being in this hobby I can feel 2 degrees differences in water temps now  )
When I checked the temp it was 75F. My 250w ebo jager was plugged in and set for 79F but no little pilot light was on. I unpluged it and turned the temp control back and forth then to 79F again. When I plugged it back in pilot light lit and temp was a nice 79F again by morning.

Has anyone else had a similar problem with Ebo?

Also afterwards I decided to move the heater from my overflow to my sump where I can get at it better. And I noticed a "water line" label near the top of the heater.
Arn't ebo jager's fully submersible?

TIA

The "waterline" is for people that want to use it partially submersed (much like a hang-on that users has easy reach of the controls. The glass part has to be submersed in water at least above that "waterline". Otherwise the unit will crack or render the unit not working right.

It has been a some time since I ditched my EboJager. Not because they went bad, but because I switched them out for non-glass heater (titaniums). The one I had was bought 4 years ago. I've heard that Ebo's are having more glitchs with their new stocks. Just a rumor.

Thx danmH

Has anyone else been having problems with ebo jager?
Mine is only 12 months old.

Maybe I should look into a second heater just in case? (even though its April, here in New Engalnd its pretty cold still ~30F)

What do you recommend for brand+wattage?

My old ebo's were excellent heaters and I have one still going after 8 yrs. However, the new design ones have let me down. Two of them last year stuck in the on position and the tanks got to the 90's before I came home from work. One was only 2 months old and the other was less than 1 yr old.

We have had the same experience as rayjay. We've had 2 newer Ebo's stick on us in the last 6 months. One was about a month ago and that heater was less than 2 months old.

I just lost two Tronic heaters, maybe 2.5 years old. Same flaky description. Uplug it and plug it back it and it comes on for a few seconds and goes off. Both were in the same tank and I replaced them with a Won titanium. Seems to be working good.

Have had the exact same problem with one I bought about 2 months ago. Originally had it in a QT tank until I noticed it, now only use it to heat my tub of fresh saltwater for water changes. The one I bought last August keeps perfect temp.

One of my Ebo's only runs on or off-nowhere in between. This happened after a year or so-it is one of the new models. My other observation is that the temperature fluctuates more on the new ones.

Well here it is a couple days later and would'nt ya know it my f$%@# heater is on the fritz again.
Sounds like I'm not the only one having these kinds of problems. Thanks for the info everyone.
Looks like I'll be buying a Won-Pro titanium heater in the middle of April  I need to hold off for a few weeks though, been spending too much on reef lately  need my budget to bounce back first
I just hope my heater holds out a little longer.
