I just placed an order from Drs Foster + Smith / LiveAquaria.com / the desecrated remains of the glorious Flying Fish Express.

In my shipment came a catalog.

In 1 month I got another catalog.

At my ship-to address I got the SAME catalog today at work !

3 catalogs in a month. What the .... ?

And this doesn't count the 7 emails I've received.

Catalog inundation is extremely anti-environment. Eco-hostile, to say the least.

The weird thing is, they don't sell or make a Spring line of clothing or anything. There's nothing new they have to offer ! There is the exact same set of products in each of the catalogs, and they have different covers !

I am going to boycott these clowns (along with the despicable Chumpion Lighting).

Does everyone get junk-mailed to death by these guys? Doesn't it occur to them that reefers tend to be eco-concious.

My advice is simple: contact the vendor and request to be removed from their physical mailing list. It's common practice for catalog mail-order vendors in any industry to send out catalogs on a quarterly basis. I understand your concern, and I'm confident DF&S will happily accomodate your request to terminate catalog subscriptions. IMHO, this is not something worthy of boycotting, especially when you haven't addressed your personal concerns with the vendor yet (I apologize if this presumption is incorrect).

Yes and I use to order stuff from them, would also recieve the Catalogs too. Not that i have ordered anything from them, for a while they have stopped sending me Catalog's. :D

I'm just disgusted that they float these out automatically to any address they have, including duplicates of the same person.

THey should know better.

Weak.

In contrast, I ordered from Marine Depot, got a single catalog, and have been left alone since.

THe practice of aggressive catalog spamming is very eco-hostile and disturbing, coming from a company that caters to more environmentally concious customers.

Yeah, I am going to have them take me off the list. But I shouldn't have to. Their catalogs are identical, and sent to me in triplicate.

Ridiculous. And these catalogs are large and full of ink.

It's just a really uncool practice. Junk mail sucks and these guys should know better. In fact, they even have "Or current resident" on the label.

So very weak. Direct mail is evil and must be destroyed.

FWIW, the difference between MD and DF&S is one is predominantly an online mail order vendor while the other is predominantly a catalog vendor. You have to keep in mind that internet access is still limited to most people. That's why catalog vendors still have an important role in today's marketplace.

Perhaps when you contact them, suggest that customers be asked whether they want printed catalogs at the time of ordering. That seems logical to me.

I got several catalogs from them @ first, I think maybe three. They even sent me the dog catalogs a couple of times, but I haven't got one in about six months.
