Hello fellow reefer's,

Does anyone know if Coke or Pepsi would refill CO2 tanks just wondering. I have a place that fills them, but they send it to get filled and it take a week I need to know where i can have it filled up and pick it up the same day. :D

I have a Coke Distributor like 5 mins away I might go and try.

You need to call around. The welding places are usually better equiped, and can often take care of you while you wait.

(If you insist on "food" grade CO2, do a search on it in RDO).

(They usually tell me to come back in a week when I bring my 3000 gal CO2 tanker truck ...;) )

Paint ball shops will along with welding places. The paintball place my friend went would do it right then and there and he'd walk out with a full CO2 tank.

I just bring the old one in and swap it for a new (used) one at my local welding shop. Takes about 5 minutes total time including paying for it and everything. They just went up on the price though - it costs $16 to fill my 20lb co2 tank.

you may want to doublecheck with the paint ball shops, i heard that some of them "grease" their co2 to help the guns. so you will not be getting pure co2.

I heard about the grease issue with paintball, but unless they tell me what kind of grease they use, I am just take it with a grain of salt.

Think about it, a grease (liquid) that can be carried by the CO2 (gas) to the gun? Sounds like the Al Quaeda maybe interested in talking to the paintball people. (I am not saying it is impossible, but I would like to learn more if someone can tell me the specifics other than just antidote)

I have also had luck with places that fill fire extinguishers. They can usually do it while you wait.

FWIW, I always grease my air tools at work before I use them, so I could see this as a real problem. If they put grease in their tanks to help the guns and you use the same air in your tank I would probably cause some problems.

I have not heard of "greased" CO2 for paintball, but in Airsoft we use this "Green" gas. It has silicone in it to keep the internals from locking up since the rate of fire is so high. Greased gas is just CO2 with silicone in it. So no worries. And trust me, for the price, no one is going to fill paintball tanks with green gas.

When you start dealing with industrial equipment with air supply, almost every piece of equipment has an oiler on it. The goal is to get the oil to diffuse into a superfine mist in the air when the pressure is released. I don't anything about paint ball guns and whether they oil the CO2, but I know for a fact that it is old "school" for compressed air and a prerequisite for anything from with moving parts from air tools to pneumatic cylinders. It's the easiest way to keep valves and things moving freely and disperse any condesation that may occur.

Well thanks for all the Info. I have it at a welding place right now, the owner is going to take it and get it filled himself, and i will have it Thurday. I may just do that, take it and trade it every time. Do you have to pay a lot to switch it, or are you just paying for the CO2.

Take it to any home brewing supply shop. They will usually refill it while you wait or they will have some sort of exchange program.

If the tank is recently hydro-tested, don't anything other than the gas.

If the "grease" is a concern, I always suggest people to put a inline carbon filter between the valve and the reactor.
