I've read recent discussions about the use of Phosguard and coral health. It's been said that it releases aluminum in to systems causing adverse effects.

I'm wandering about other products. My LFS says they leave the Kent product in there systems 24/7 and if it's true, they're corals sure don't show signs of any troubles to me.

I had been running Phosguard in my tank 24/7 thinking that it shouldn't hurt anything. I have noticed that when the product is new my corals don't open up nearly as much as when it's been in the system for awhile. Is there that much of a difference between Phosguard and Phosphate Sponge?

At any rate I removed the Phosguard and after two small water changes I can tell a big difference. :)

Any input would be cool.

hi.
Aluminum and other metals has "iffy" effect on the coral. Some says they are highly toxic, while others have no problem. All this is not very scientific, so unless you actually read a credible article on it, don't be too concerned.

No real articles come to mind, just discussions here and on other boards. I might experiment with other products and keep track of the results.

Thanks :)
