I feed Ocean Nutrition Prime Reef frozen food. Why? How about this for an answer? It's the only thing my picky fish will eat now, other then live foods and mysis. :)

FWIW, my fish are perfectly healthy from a diet of this for five plus years.

I feed Formula 1, 2 and angel formula (don't have any angels). Brine and mysis too. My new favorite food is Aqua Yums, not sure of manufacturer. It has a little bit of everything, like squid, silversides, brine shrimp, blood worms, and other stuff, easy to feed because it is in one pakcage.

Right now I feed my tank Brine Shrimp Plus by Ocean Nutrition.

I HATE this food. It has very little brineys and is mostly comprised of gel and chunks of macroalgae. I am going to use this up and never buy it again.

For the fish, Form 1 & 2 & frozen mysis. It takes forever for me to use up a package of that stuff, since I only have 6 fish and I don't like to feed the same food all the time.

For the S. Hadonni, silversides.

I feed most of the different Formula foods in rotation to my fish, and frozen silversides for my Euphilia, shrooms, and E. quad. I like to vary things as much as possible, and I crush the last little bit of the cube as much as possible to create small particles for the SPS to utilize.

Formula One, Mysis, SF Brands Saltwater Multi-Pack (Squid, Emerald Entree, Brine Shrimp, Marine Cuisine). Have tried Prime Reef but my fish don't seem to like it too much (my banggai spits it out). I also like to feed plankton due to it's bigger size (less waste).

Home made. I haven't tried any store bought frozen. I think it's a lot cheaper to make it yourself.

Whatever seafood is on sale, Last time it was shrimp and muscles.
a bunch of silversides
a piece of nori from the sushi counter
forumla 1 flake
Marine snow.

Next batch I'm going to use DT's and golden pearls.

Hi all,

I am feeding the Hikari Brand of frozen food. It is triple sterilized. No nitrate/phosphate or ammonia. All the food is frozen alive. I ffed Brine, Mysis and Ocean Plankton.

it is fortified with the following:

B12, pyridoxine hydrochloride ( easily broken down B6), Vit-C, folic acid, niacin, beta carotene, riboflavin, thiamine, and biotin.

I also soak all of my food in Kent Vit-C, Zoe and Zoecon. I use garlic extreme as a soak. I also add some of the kent Zoolex and Chromaplex. It is soaked ub by the frozen food and also provides some suspended food for my inverts....

I rotate through the different types I have (Emerald Entree, Brine Shrimp, Marine Cuisine, Mysis Shrimp). I usually feed a total of 2 cubes each night to my fish. One around 6pm and the other around 8pm.

Current stocking list includes:
-Yellow Tang
-4 Green Chromis
-2 Percula Clowns
-Royal Gramma
-Cardinal Fish
-Firefish
-Mandrain goby (he only eats the live pods he finds, but he's over a year old and super fat)

This has worked really well for me for the past year and all the fish are over 1 year old. The only thing I lost was a Fairy Wrasse to a carpet surfing incident about a month ago. I use an Ecosystem filter and the heavy feeding keeps the critter population nice and dense.

I feed PE mysis and cyclopeeze a lot. I also feed a homemade mix.

I feed this stuff mostly because it gets the strongest feeding response and it's a good source of proteins and UFAs for my fish.

The cyclopeeze also has the dual purpose of being small enough to be consumed by many corals as well as little nibbly fish like the Chromis...

I alternate (and mix) frozen brine with my blender mush. I have found that about 4 shrimp, a serving spoon of scallops, and a similar size piece of white fish filet make enough to last a couple of months. I have to add water to the mush in the blender to get the right consistency. I usually add some Kent marine zoe to the food as I defrost it. Next time I fire up the blender, the marine zoe goes in up front.

All of my fish love the frozen stuff (yellow tang, blue hippo tang, lyretail anthias, perculas, longnose butterfly, and watchman goby). Ditto for cleaner and coral banded shrimp, BTAs, bubble coral, open brain, and sally lightfoot.

Interesting thread. I have used Marine Cuisine and Spirulena enriched brineshimp. Both product are from the same company. For a long time, I have had a problem with diatoms in my tank. The diatoms would coat the glass and the the sand bed DAILY!!!! Stir them up and they would come right back.

Thru trial and error, I figured out the cause of the diatoms. I got the diatoms when I fed the Spirulina Enriched brine shimp. I also got diatoms from using Selcon or Zoe. Nothing else that I use seems to cause them and since I stopped using these products.....no diatoms!!!!!!!!

HaH2Ofreak - Interesting about the Selcon and Zoe. I had similiar diatom/algae problems when I used to feed Formula 1 and 2. Problems got much better when I started using my mash, and I use Selcon, but not very much. For some reason I always thought it had to do with the gel binder.

Speaking of the gel binder, I know some people used a geletin at one time. I know of at least 1 recipe in one of my Discus books that calls for it. Does anyone bother with it anymore?

Yep....just like clockwork....feed one of the diatom "triggers" in the morning and by afternoon.......BROWN OUT! I didnt really figure out the "triggers" until I went to an every-other-day feeding schedule. Welp....now I know
