Chop it off, send it to me. It looks cool, and I try to collect different algaes. I don't think it is cotton candy algae, but you never know.

thats some cool looking algae, i wouldent get rid of it, try adding a small tang to the tank, yellow tang he mite munch on it.

i was deeply infested with that stuff....posted the same "cry" for help here a couple of months ago! responses were mixed, but i went with the yellow tang and he has all but decimated the stuff!
my stuff seems to be closely associated with some sort of tube worm, but not in all cases. either way, the tang spends all day banging the hell out of this algae.

i'll attach a pic of what i had so you can see.

If you are going to get a tang to try and eat it, go with a kole Tang, it will do better in a 55G.
