I've never kept Alveopora or Goniopora, but here's what I've read: The stomach constituents of wild specimens is about 50% phytoplankton, and about 50% zooplankton, things like copepod and annelid larvae. They will NOT accept large pieces of food. The lack of good planktonic foods in our tanks was thought to be the reason for their quick demise, but now that DTs and GPs are readily available we can feed them all sorts of good stuff. Some folks not running skimmers seem to have better success. However, the corals still fail to thrive. Some folks think the cause may be some element deficiency, but no one really knows. There are certainly people who have had them thrive for years, but these people are few and far between. My advice would be to wait until their husbandry is better understood or you may be dissappointed.
