MY empere angel fish is sick I know It's not ick but it looks like a white powdery velvet covering him.
And he seems to be loosing some of his colering, as in going kind of bland looking.
i've had him for about 4 months now. When i first got him he had that cowlerflower sicknes and he came out of that right away. but this one is new to me. All peramaters are normal. he's in a 125 gallon with only a snowflake eel and the usual clean up crew of crabs and snails. whats wrong with him and what do I need to do.

I hope its not marine velvet, although it sounds like it might be. Do you have a q tank? If you do, it might be time to put him in there and perhaps start a copper treatment (or other medication treatment).

Unfortunately a copper treatment (and some medications) will kill inverts. Any chance of getting a pic of your angel?

Without a pic it is difficult but my guess would be a condition caused by water problems.
Test all your parameters and do a water change. Stick an air diffuser in the tank

Boss, next time you have a sick fish, you need to act fast. At the first sign of sickness you should seek for help. Buying a book would be a good route. I have a book called "The marine aquarium handbook" (?) by Dr. Albert Moe Jr. and there is a full chapter of diseases.
As a suggestion, next time you have a fish with fungus qt him asap to avoid risk of sickening another fish, then add some antibiothic like penicilin (which has worked wonders for me) and some drops (1 drop per liter) of acriflavine (?) and leave him several days until the fungus has died.
YOu can do this as a bath with less water and same dose.

remember to check your water quality because angels are one of the most delicate fish.

Yeah, though the author is Martin Moe, Jr. One of the best books you can buy, in my opinion. I always prefer books to the net (as far as information references) because a book is at your fingertips, a finite space if you will. It's just the way I've been brought up, too, books are the best.

Also, the quality of the test kit can make a HUGE difference. Clearly, this fish was stressed (most likely because of water quality), otherwise it wouldn't have gotten sick. This sort of thing is very rare in nature, so duplication is really of utmost importance.

I'd like to also note that we've (those of us who have been at this for a while) learned that it's really best to not only know exact readings/parameters, but again, what test kit being used makes a world of difference. You say you've been at this for three years, yet you had no idea that copper will kill all invertebrates. This isn't an accusation or anything, it's just a point to illustrate that there is ALWAYS more to learn. I've been doing this since the mid 80s, but my learning curve is still quite steep--there is a LOT of information out there!

I do have a book it's called The marine aquarium problum solver and it has worked fine. It's a great book It's just that he got sick realy fast this all hapend in like 4 days. frome he looks kind of pale this morning to yep he's sick. i treated him with rally so it wouldent kill my clean up crew. and two days later he was dead. it came on hard and fast what ever it was but every thing else in the tank is fine so i dont know. But thx for the help anyway.
