Zoo, you really need to phrase your comments/questions with less aggression. For example, the last line of your last post is completely uneccessary and generally regarded as a taunt, intentional or not. Again, if you need pointers on how to formulate your ideas in a more civil manner, you may email me at [email protected].

Len I can not help how you or anyone else interprets my words. I find that a lot of people on this board have a problem reading or with reading comprehension so I try to ask DIRECT questions that leave no margin for error.

None the less do you care to answer the question?

And jim what do you think of the percentage question? What percentage of people use hypo properly for 3 weeks as suggested by terry?

To be honest, I don't care to answer the question simply because of the way you word them.

I hope you realize you just insulted our community in your last post by accusing other members of having poor reading comprehension. Is it not entirely possible that the problem isn't with their reading comprehension but rather your inability to convey your ideas effectively?

If you want to discuss this further, email me. I want the thread to return back to its intended topic.

Now ya see that Jim, this is why I have stayed off the boards for who knows how long, I can not remember. First off I used to manage a very successful LFS. Now, hence my name the "TheZooFarmer" I propogate many species of corals for wholesale and am about to put up a website for sales to the public.

I will leave it at that becasue you are clueless

So now I apologize for correcting you like so many others already have.

Hey but keep on using words like "empirical" and maybe you can make yourself sound smart.

But when a less experienced reefer comes on this board and asks about a fish's reef compatibility, whether or not the fish eats zooplankton in the wild is of ZERO relevance.

I have posted not only from my experience with the fish in question, but I have also posted numerous supporting materials that support my first hand knowledge and experience.

Can you name a single post or poster on this thread that has done this besides myself?

Can you name a poster that says moronic statements like

jim it is not a dumb statement to say not to trust thousands of employees at hundreds of stores?

Jenn you could not be more wrong, but you are not the only one

105man I will try and not be mean but your tank is doomed.

It is nearly impossible to treat that tang once it has ick, well in a 55 gallon tank that is. The Tang will most likely be stressed to no ends until the ick kills it.

How can you come on this board and ask for advice but not follow any of it? No Tang deserves to be housed in a 55 gallon tank. Especially a chocolate tang that is over 4" in size.

And do you know why you rarely see a chocolate tang offered for sale in LFSs? Because they have an extremely high mortality rate. And I am not talking when the customer brings the fish him, most all of these fish die in the LFS.

So maybe this thread should stop treating the symptom and instead treat the cause.

Manny you are on the right track. I too used to read the hell out of these boards before I jumped into this hobby. This is why I am so passionate about putting out good information and correcting bad information

Copper causes the fish to produce a slim coat in such an amount where the ick parasite can not latch onto the fish. But the dormant ick in the sandbed has not been killed so if you return the fish to the same stressful environment it will get ick again.

If you ask any reputable source in the hobby they will tell you that ick does not kill healthy fish. Not only does ick not kill healthy fish, healthy fish do not even get ick. Ick is brought on by any number of factors all which are induced by stress.

I hope this information finds its way to people that need it.

Matt was your last post directed at me? I truly hope not. Let me remind you I ran a very successful LFS and have housed and cared for 85% of the fish discussed on this board and others. The other 15% is comprised of fish that should not be kept, or are of the exotic/expensive variety.

How ethical is it to tell me I am getting of the subject when I could be saving the lives of fish because someone posts some HORRIBLE advice that some readers of this board might follow?

How about selling your clam(s) before you kill them.

I see no one has posted a thread yet but I just wanted to ask jim our resident expert a couple of questions.

How did that argi angel work out in your 7 gallon nano?

And for someone who supossedly worked at a LFS, how could you not know how to clean coraline algea off of acrylic?

As far as I am concerned anyone that keeps a pair of Harlequin shrimp and an argi angel in a 7 gallon tank needs to look for advice and not give it.

How about this tank

"This tank housed a queen, a french, an annularis, an emperor, a blueface , a personifer and a lemon peel and a koran. "

Another great fish tank from jim, like I said earlier you need to look for advice and stop giving it.

this is just the tip of the iceberg that compells me to say the following:

TheZooFarmer-

you are an infant who suffers from a hugely disproportionate napoleon complex

you berate all you respond to, and seem to think that all animal husbandry deals w/absolutes, when nothing could be further from the truth

not only do you usually add only non constructive 'advice' to threads,w/a supremely arrogant tone, you have the unmitigated gall to try and backpedal arrogantly when those who obviously are far more educated than you on a specific issue try to 'enlighten you' politely

in the 3 decades that i've been involved in the hobby, retail, wholesale, and aquaculture trade, i've met only a few individuals as assininely arrogant as yourself, though most seemed to not know as liitle about wht they are talkin about as you.

i respectfully suggest that you go back to 'managing' your 'hard line' lfs, or your 'zoo farming, my way or the highway', and stop spewing forth countless volumes of narrow minded drivel you've derived from your experience alone

'there are 37 ways to skin a cat' :D

you not only seem, but you refuse, categorically, to even acknowledge, the posibility of the existence of the other 36 ways...

his, sir, makes you an absolute buffoon, and nothing but a raver, and a ranter, and a non valued contributor to any online community interested in helping others through positive encouragement and knowledge sharing, based on varied experience/tested consensus.

i was going to jokingly give you a 'naesco' award  , (those who know my history here will appreciate that remark)

but you make naesco look like very small potatoes

sincerely yours, Alan J. Lavitsky

and far far more experienced with a far wider variety of aquatic life, in a far wider variety of wettings, than a silly punk such as yourself :P

i'd suggest one thing for you to take to heart-play abit nicer, and you may find that many here have alot to offer you, in the way of helping you expand your own self imposed narrow viewpoints, and level of knowledge

have a nice day :D

Ok, thread closed. Vitz, we will not be doing that ever again, understand? Needless to say, this is a very disappointing end to what could've been a great thread.
