Just acclimated my 5 new fish and have a couple questions.

1. I have the lights off, they have been in the tank about 15 minutes. How long should I wait before turning on the lights. It's 55 Gal with 2 VHO Actinic bulbs (white/blue)

2. What would be good for food for the following:

1 Purple Tang (I have lots of hair algea :) )
1 Flame Angel
1 Foxface
1 Percula Clown
1 Lawnmower Blenny
1 Skooter
1 Tricolor Fairy Wrasse

I usually go with the Mysis(sp?) Shrimp and some algea sheets.

4x4,

:) nice set of fish, the mysis shrimp & algea sheets are a good supplement for the fish. maybe some spectrum for added vitamins.

good luck,

WOW, i guess you have too much for a 55 but u didnt asked for that probably...
The good food would be mysis, cyclops, algea sheets, siprulina flakes, formula 1, brine shrimp...

The mysis and algae are good. See if you can blow a little mysis onto the sandbed in a low flow area and if your scooter blenny doesn't already eat the mysis that is a good way for him to learn to eat frozen foods.

The foxface and the tang need a lot of vegetable matter in their diets, if you have a good bit of algae in the tank that probably helps so use your own judgment about how much algae sheet to feed. They should be plump at all times, if their belly starts to look thin or pinched you need to offer more algae for grazing. Sometimes fish just don't like the kind of algae growing in our tanks, so you can't count on them getting enough food just because there is tons of algae growing.

Most of the fish except for the wrasse and scooter should eat just about anything you feed them. If you want to add more variety you can pick up a can of quality flake food, or buy a little bit of frozen shrimp or other frozen seafood from the grocery store and cut it into very small pieces and feed that. (I buy scallops one or two at a time LOL!)

I agree that soaking food in vitamin supplments are a good idea as well!

One more thing though, no more fish for you in that 55! Some of those fish are going to grow quite large so as it is you will probably have to either upgrade your tank size in the future or find a nice home for the tang and probably the foxface.

Yes, know on the size of the tang. Hoping it cleans up the algea and it may go back to the FS afterwords. Just hoping he likes the algea.

...and watch out for an ammonia spike since you added 5 new fish all at once.

SC gives very good advice. Others give good advice re. feeding. Along with nori(green), try red and brown algae sheets.

IMO adding 5 new fish at once is not at all recommended. I also think that if your LFS sold you 5 of those fish and told you it would be fine to add them all at once (especially if they knew they were going into a 55) I would no longer trust their advice. I assume these fish were not quarantined... The chances one or more of these fish will carry ich (or other marine parasite or disease) and then could likely affect more of your fish. I hope all goes well with your fish.
