I have one about 6 weeks old with a mag drive and have noticed very little if any foam. most the time there is none. I've not had to empty the cup and there is very little liquid in it. Any info on how this thing is supposed to work and where to start with the cup would be appreciated.

I have it in my sump and I see a thin layer of gunk on the top of the water in the sump.

Bump, surely someone has had good experience with this skimmer that can help me out. I think part of my problem is this thing is not skimming...Is there any upgrades to this thing that will help?

My CPR BakPak worked better than this thing has so far.

I'm not sure what to tell ya. Maybe there's something about yours that is defective, cracked, or otherwise broken. There's not really any upgrades, (other than the Mag that you already have) and there's not much more to adjust other than the cup height.

Have you e-mailed the guy from proteinskimmer.com? I've heard he's very helpful, and may be willing to get you a new unit.
