Is there really anything wrong with using these grow lights for aquarium use? To get 1000w per bulb is really amazing, if the application fits. anyone

The only issue with using these lights is the color. They are very yellow, and will need some serious supplementation to have a nice blue color.

I thought of these before and figured that if you bought the ballast then some of those coralife 1,000 watters that would work. When I move out of my parents house and get my 1,000+ aquarium going I'll use em

you can get color specific bulbs for the 1000w fixture. I've ordered 20Ks from championlighting.com, so I know for a fact they carry them

Currently I have a 450 gallon tank, with three openings. a 1000 corallife 20k on a hydroponics ballast and two 400 watt iwasakis on a hgi ballast. I'll be taking down the iwaskis and replacing them with two more corallife 1000 watt 20K's. I really like the color, it looks like a radium on hqi but it but the intensity is almost double. the bulb isn't much brighter than 400 W iwasaki on hqi

IIRC there is a manufacturer that produces some higher kelvin 1000 watt bulbs. Bill, one of the Admins here has a 1000 watt on a light rail.
